Class Guide

Clinical Pilates

For those who have completed our one to one assessment. As we only have small classes we can accommodate any age or ability into our friendly and fun classes. Some people may still be under our Physio care and using the class as a form of rehab.

Advanced Clinical Pilates

This class is for those of you who we know very well and are able to cope with a higher intensity class. It is not suitable for those who have current rehab needs or have only been doing class a few months.

Man Club

Is our special class for gents only which we don’t call Clinical Pilates but that is what it is! Shhhhh, don’t tell anyone! We have great fun, lots of laughs and the music is rather good too!

Balance, Mobility & Bone Strength Pilates

This class is for you if you struggle to get on and off the floor, have concerns about your balance and falling, have had joint replacements, a diagnosis of osteoporosis or arthritis. The class will be conducted in standing and seated positions.

Rest and Restore

This half hour class will be a lovely little oasis of calm through your day! There are loads of different relaxation techniques to try and benefit from.  During this class you will find and practice the ones that work for you and finish feeling wonderful. A chilled out body and mind await.  Now all you have to do is find a warm cozy place to get started!

Monday Meditation

What better way to start your week (or any day for that matter) than by focusing and controlling your mind.  Free yourself from worries, anxiety and that constantly whirring mind. You will start finding peace and clear thinking in the present.  We will be doing various different meditations in this class.  Some are guided and some focus on the breath.  Anyone can come to this class even if you haven’t done it before and are curious.   There is no better time spent than learning how to master and control your mind instead of letting it control you.

Gentle Stretch and Move

A lovely class of stretching suitable to be done in your chair, on the bed or floor.  Time for you to enjoy the many positive benefits of stretching and moving.  Why not have your cuppa near you for light refreshment during your class.  This class will help you improve posture, mobility and reduce muscle and joint stiffness / soreness.  Keeping your whole body stretched out and mobile will help to improve your balance and agility.  So put the kettle on, grab your dressing gown cord and let’s grow an inch!

Dynamic Stretch

This beautiful class gets you stretching and moving your whole body in a controlled supportive way.  Great for most of us, this carefully structured class incorporates a series of stretches, moves and poses to improve muscle length, joint and spine movement whilst calming the mind and relaxing the body.  It’s a whole body class, what’s not to love?! It’s the answer to those who say they don’t ever do stretching or have the time.

Guided Walk

Join Hannah for an online stroll in the beautiful countryside.  The walk can be as strenuous as you like and there will be some optional exercises along the way.  This hour will give us the opportunity to get to know one another, have a chat and a giggle with your friends and get you doing some light exercise along the way.  All you need is a bit of space to move around whether that’s in your garden or lounge. Bring your favourite hot drink with you and away we go.

These high energy sessions include a variety of training styles which are designed to increase your heart rate, burn calories and help you get stronger throughout your whole body.  Getting your heart and lungs fit and improving your general strength is such a good thing to make you more robust and also improve your immune system.  It’s great for your mind too and handling stress!
Little or no equipment is necessary and exercises can be adapted to suit different needs and abilities.
LIIT (Low Intensity Interval Training)
Want to start moving more and getting fitter but not quite sure how? Feeling terrified by the thought of lycra and jumping up and down in an uncontrolled manner? Fear not, LIIT is the complete antidote to Bootcamp! These low impact sessions include a variety of training styles which are designed to gradually increase your heart rate, burn calories and help you get stronger throughout your whole body. The class will be relaxed with the key focus on nurturing, encouraging you in new found exercise and most importantly having FUN!  You will also be working your cheeks from laughing so much too!

I now have far more flexibility and I am discovering muscles that I haven’t used in years. I am feeling much fitter. My body shape seems to be improving too which is great!

Pilates classes are fun and varied, they are not just exercises, it requires mental effort. You are thinking about the breathing, control of the inner core and isolating particular muscles at the same time as doing the exercise. It can be very challenging and great when it all begins to work as it should. My whole physical shape has improved and I have lost those extra pounds I have wanted to lose so badly for years

I had been a yoga enthusiast for many years, but had to stop a couple of years ago because I found floor work too painful, in particular lying on my back. I had done little excercise since then. I fell eighteen months ago and broke my left fifth metatarsal. I then developed right hip bursitis.I found walking more & more painful and cortisone injections didn’t help.  I eventually came to Quay Physio then joined a regular Clinical Pilates class. At first I found the excercises rather strange & wondered whether I would be able get to grips with them! I didn’t feel I was doing anything much. The moves were quite subtle. In fact my brain hurt more than my body, which I wasn’t used to! Then after quite a short time, I began to notice some improvement. A few months on & I think about the way I walk & move in general, have no pain & friends say my shape has changed…for the better! I regularly walk five plus miles, pain free & without limping. I can’t beleive I’m going to be sixty in a few weeks, I feel better now than I have done for years and I hold QuayPhysio personally responsible, Thank you!
